Beschreibung This easy listening classical piece for piano solo is for the advanced piano student. Written in mixolydian mode, it has a poignant feel to it and echoes of old English folk songs woven into it.

'If Ever' are the first two words of a poem by Anne Bradstreet (?1612-1672). She wrote the following poem for her husband
"If ever two were one, then surely we.
If ever man were lov'd by wife, then thee;
If ever wife was happy in a man,
Compare with me ye women if you can.
I prize thy love more than whole mines of gold,
Or all the riches that the East doth hold.
My love is such that Rivers cannot quench,
Nor ought but love from thee, give recompense.
Thy love is such I can no way repay,
The heavens reward thee manifold, I pray.
Then while we live, in love lets so persever,
That when we live no more, we may live ever.'

I wrote the melody for the first part of the poem nearly 20 years ago now, and then forgot about it, but then it came back to my mind over the last half term break and I was able to turn it into a piece for piano, dedicated to my better half, Stephen. :-)
