Anne Rees - piano playlist
I was trained as a classical pianist at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, UK, and my goal in composing is to write music which feels natural under the fingers and is also satisfying to play. Harmony, melody and the sense of a challenge are all aspects of music which are important to me.
I especially enjoy singing and love the sounds of the various modes used within the world of folk music. Because of this I've wanted to incorporate these sounds within my music. I also love being away from the rush of the city and getting out into the countryside; favourite places being up on the fells of the Lake District or Derbyshire. And as well as composing music I'm also interested in breathing fresh air into old, well known folk melodies, arranging them for piano.
Hopefully my music will provide some light relief for students who are inbetween the more advanced grades, and also some easy listening, fresh music suitable for including in a concert.
You will also find some songs suitable for children of primary school age.
